The Paper Chase

Different agencies have different ways of interpreting what Nepal has requested as part of their dossier. All documents must be less than a year old at the time of submission to the Ministry. The basic requirements are:

Homestudy
A "Letter of Application for Adoption to the Ministry
Information about Prospective Adoptive Parents
Police clearances for each parent
Birth Certificate of Parents
Birth Certificates of any children in the household
Marriage Certificate (if applicable)
Single Status Statement (if applicable)
Divorce Decree (if applicable)
Health Examination for each parent
Physical Assessment
Psychological Assessment
Employment Letter (if applicable)
Affidavit of Unemployment (if applicable)
Financial Statement
Recent Tax information
Bank Letter
Copy of recent Bank Statement
Photocopy of Passport for each parent
Photocopy of 171H
Resume/C.V. of each parent
5 personal references
Post-Adoption Agreement
Guardianship Designation
Homestudy and any updates
6 photos of your family life and 6-8 photos of your home
10 passport photos of each parent
Guarantee letter (Issued by the US embassy in Kathmandu - see below)

..........................................

Once you have your 171H, you should make certain that the US embassy in Nepal has received your Visa37 Cable. They must have this before they will issue your guarantee letter. Your agency's Nepal Representative should pick this up at the embassy and add it to your dossier.

.........................................

Nepal requires that for any document that is notarized, every single page of the document is notarized, not just the last one as is customary in the US.
